Trung Q. Duong (Fellow of IEEE and Fellow of AAIA) is a Canada Excellence Research Chair (CERC) and a Full Professor at Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada. He is a Research Chair of the Royal Academy of Engineering and also an adjunct Chair Professor in Telecommunications at Queen's University Belfast, UK. He has received the two prestigious awards from the UK Royal Academy of Engineering (RAEng), including: 1) RAEng Research Chair and 2) RAEng Research Fellow. In 2017, he was awarded the Newton Prize from the UK government. He received the PhD degree in Telecommunications Systems from Blekinge Institute of Technology, Sweden in September 2012. His current research interests include: quantum communications and quantum computing, wireless communications and networks: small-cell networks, ultra-dense networks, URLLC, physical layer security and privacy, machine learning and realtime optimisation, disaster management, smart agriculture, healthcare, air-quality, finance, climate change, and pharmacy.

As a Principal Investigator (PI) or Co-Investigator (Co-I), he has secured research grants added up to $54M+ (CAD). Since 2007, he has published more than 530+ books, book chapters, journal articles and conference papers in these topics. He has been awarded the Best Paper Award at the 77th IEEE Vehicular Technology Conference (VTC) 2013, IEEE International Conference on Communications (ICC) 2014, IEEE Global Communications Conference (GLOBECOM) 2016, 2019, 2022, IEEE Digital Signal Processing (DSP) 2017, International Wireless Communications & Mobile Computing Conference (IWCMC) 2019, 2023, 2024, and IEEE International Workshop on Computer Aided Modeling and Design of Communication Links and Networks (CAMAD) 2023. He has won the prestigious Newton Prize 2017 in the UK. He is listed as one of most-cited authors across all scientific fields by Scopus (all-time career).
