Greening telecommunications in developing countries
One of the most significant environmental concerns associated with the telecom industry is its substantial energy consumption. The countless data centres, phone towers, and networking equipment required to keep us connected 24/7 demand an enormous amount of electricity.24 Jan 2024. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) were formally accepted by the United Nations in September 2015 as a global framework for achieving an integrated sustainable development model for 2030. The Lab is taking this challenge and focuses in investigating novel solutions that can minimize energy consumption in telecommunications and facilitate carbon footprint to encourage sustainable agricultural practices and improving environmental and climate change resilience.
